Under the direction of the Primary Care Team Manager, the Laboratory Technician assists in organizing the medical laboratory and performing the duties listed below; including compiling and stocking resources, maintaining laboratory IPAC standards, instrument reprocessing, phlebotomy, ECGs, generating reports in data systems as may be applicable.  The Laboratory Technician may perform these duties for all health programs, staff, and laboratories as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:  Graduate of Medical Laboratory Assistant Program; Possess a post-secondary education and/or equivalent related work experience in analytical laboratory; Must be able to distinguish between different colour reactions; a minimum of two (2) years direct experience in a medical laboratory setting preferred; Candidates without the specific education qualifications and where the position does not require certified qualification to practice, but who possess an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered.

Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week

Must have:: Satisfactory Criminal Records Search including Vulnerable Sector; required to work flexible hours, travel regularly determined by the respective Manager in relation to service requirements; Must possess a valid Class G Driver’s License and access to a reliable personal vehicle with $1 million dollar liability;
