On Tuesday May 18, 2021 Health Services, via a virtual ceremony, said Congratulations! to the first graduating class of Dilico’s Personal Support Worker Training Program.

This program was made possible with a collaboration with SE First Nations, Inuit and Metis Program and took place between October 2020 and May 2021.  Every one of our students showed a dedication to learning and helping others which was not only noted by our Clinical Educator/  program instructor- Jillian Jurimae but by all of the PSW preceptors throughout their clinical placements.  Each student participated in a clinical placement in their home communities followed by a placement at Hogarth Riverview Manor Long Term Care Facility. It was noted that each one of our graduates stood out from their peers from other classes in the clinical setting from their first days at Long Term Care – the compliments and praises from their preceptors continued until the last day of placement. Their performance was recognized by staff because of the effort that they all put into the learning process and understanding how to safely, ethically and compassionately care for others.

It is a challenging time to be a student but our graduates prevailed showing strength and perseverance.  Through their compassion for others, a respect for human rights, a growing understanding of their own ethics and morals and how they apply in advocating for the best possible care that people deserve – our graduates have earned their Personal Support Worker Certificates. As a part of the program our graduates will be working as Personal Support Workers with Dilico Health Services.  It was a pleasure to be a part of their journey and we wish nothing but success for their future and look forward to working with them.  Congratulations to all!
