MENTAL HEALTH REGISTERED NURSE 
Mental Health Nursing Program
1- Permanent Full-Time
Location: Thunder Bay

The Mental Health Registered Nurse (MHRN) will work collaborative with the all Health Services programs, to continually assess current program delivery and services and recommend and participate in new strategies in order to facilitate changes that will enhance patient care.The MHRN is responsible for administering and delivering advanced mental health services to individuals and to communities. The MHRN reports to the Mental Health Nursing Manager and is responsible for providing psycho-educational counseling to individuals and families with mental health concerns who are referred to the program.

Qualifications and Requirements: This position requires an advanced degree in Nursing with additional training in crisis management and suicide prevention. The MHRN will have an understanding of cognitive behavioural therapy, anxiety and depression management, and problem solving treatments. In addition, the MHRN must have education and experience in program development and evaluation. One to two years’ work experience in a community based setting. Knowledge and experience working with Indigenous communities. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary health services team. Candidates without the specific education qualifications and where the position does not require certified qualification to practice, but who possess an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered.

Hours of Work:  32.5 hours per week

Must have:  Satisfactory Criminal Records Search. Must possess a valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate. Ability to travel and work flexible hours as determined by the Mental Health Nursing Manager or designate in relation to service delivery requirements. Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle.
