OACAS Public EngagementAs one of 53 Children's Aid Societies in Ontario, Dilico Anishinabek Family Care is participating in a new provincial Public Engagement Campaign. The campaign will educate Ontarians about the role of the Children's Aid in their community and ways they can get involved in protecting children and building strong families. The theme of the campaign is "I Am Your Children's Aid" and tells the stories of youth, families, foster and adoptive parents and workers whose lives have been touched by Children's Aid. The call to action is "Get Involved. Go to useyourvoice.ca". Ontario's Children's Aid Societies are trying to engage more people to foster and/or adopt and be voices advocating for the well-being of children and youth. This campaign is intended to shift perceptions and secure more public support for Ontario's Children's Aid Societies.
Dilico is very excited to announce that one of our esteemed foster parents, Wendy Landry, as well as RONA Scholarship winner Jessica Nunes (a former Dilico Crown Ward) have been chosen as spokespeople for this campaign! Wendy and Jessica's stories will be featured in separate 30 second T.V. commercial spots that will be played all across Ontario. In addition, Jessica will be the youth featured in a 30 second cinema spot shown in over 70 theatres in Ontario, as well as in newspaper ads and posters across the province.
