The Adult Mental Health Worker is responsible for providing specialized mental health counselling services. This includes ensuring regular, appropriate documentation on all clinical files; regular conferencing/reviews of relevant cases; evaluating system effectiveness and recommending necessary changes; ensuring the current developmental, treatment, and psycho-social needs of clients are met by participating in the provision of assessment, counselling and referrals. A primary responsibility is to increase early identification of mental health problems and mental disorders. To ensure the provision of treatment plans and counselling services for clients that is consistent with the philosophy, policies, and standards established by Dilico Anishinabek Family Care.

Qualifications and Requirements: A minimum HBSW or related degree may be considered if complimented by significant experience and demonstrated skill is required. An MSW is preferred. Experience working with Anishinabek adults, families and communities; a minimum three years adult mental health counselling experience with clients; candidates without the specific education qualifications and where the position does not require certified qualification to practice, but who possess an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered.

Hours of Work:     32.5 hours per week

Must have: A satisfactory Criminal Records Search; the ability to work flexible hours; a valid Class “G” Driver’s License; access to a reliable, personal vehicle; $1,000,000 liability vehicle insurance; a valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is recommended.
