Assessment Brief Treatment Residential Services

The Child and Youth Worker will ensure the current developmental needs of children/youth in his/her care are met by actively providing daily therapeutic opportunities for program participants.
Qualifications and Requirements: A three-year Child and Youth Worker, or Social Service Worker, or equivalent Diploma is required; an HBSW or equivalent degree is preferred. Three years related experience working with Anishinabek children/youth/families. Three years experience providing activity-based therapeutic interventions to children/youth including cultural, land-based, recreational, pro-social; experience working with children/youth with mental health needs. Candidates without the specific education qualifications and where the position does not require certified qualification to practice, but who possess an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered.
Hours of Work: 36 hours per week
Must have: A satisfactory criminal records check; the ability to work flexible hours; a valid Class “G” Driver’s License; access to a reliable, personal vehicle; $1,000,000 liability vehicle insurance; a valid Standard First Aid/CPR certificate; able to complete a medical and receive the required immunizations as recommended by the local medical officer of health; must participate in cultural, social, recreational program activities; must participate in and qualify for certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training provided by the agency. Must be able to perform/implement physical restraints as per TCIT and in accordance with the agency Policies and Procedures.
